Best Brand of Gasoline

Aound here Shell has been consistently garbage. I get more water at many MObil than most places.
So I have been using Irving. Actuall a mix of Mobil and Irving seem to make a nice drink for the engine.

It all depends o where you live. You must use top tier fuel on new engines. It least that's what the O.M dictates
for the new vehicles Ive bought. Also no E15 unless you have flex fuel the O.M. it states it can acommodate 15% ethanol
Used to like Shell a lot. Past 5 years not so much. The 3.3L N/A V6 in a recent f-150 was prone to pinging on Shell 87 so I quit using. No more ping

Back in the early 70s, Shell was crap. Every mechanic would tell you not to use it, gummed everything up. It had it's own unique smell, too. Then when unleaded hit, Shell Super Regular was the only one that didn't ping (it was their unleaded) in my cat equipped pickup.

Now with computer controlled spark, it's really hard to tell a difference from tank to tank. I guess the long term effects are where the differences will be.🤷‍♂️

I put Chevron/Texaco in my tanks wherever it is available. When traveling to areas where I can't find Chevron or Texaco, my second choice is Shell. Then Costco. After that, any other Top Tier.

Chevron was the one that spent the money and research with the Germane firm BMW to solve the valve gunking issue. I use them because of that, and I think it is the top of the top tier fuels. Ed

I can certainly appreciate why you'd want to support them, but what makes you think it is the top of the top-tier fuels? I use Chevron as well, although it's not my first choice.

I use EXXON/Mobil diesel because it's the least expensive reputable chain in my area and has discounts as from the grocery store points.. Had troubles with contaminated fuel at the independents and small chains over the past three decades.
Gasoline, I've been using the E/M because of the points savings, but Royal Farms is even less expensive plus has additional points savings, so I tried it and it runs the same in the Beemer. No brainer, cheaper, car runs the same, use it.

P.S. Don't argue with the nitpicky trolls. They just need attention because mommy won't give them more potato chips.
