OK guys, time to change the blower motor on the 2003 Vibe... again.

Short synopsis:

Bought the car in Oct. 2005 with 21k. After just over one year, blower motor went bad (bushings - still worked but made noise). Replaced it with OEM. One year later, same problem. Replaced under warranty.

One year later, same thing. I bought a Factory Air one and installed it myself. Since then, they've been going bad every 3-4 months. They still would work, just make a chirping noise, so I usually let them go 8-10 months. I think I've four Factory Air ones in there, each replaced under warranty (except the original). This past one I drilled a whole in it and put some liquid grease in there and it lasted 7-8 months before making the noise.

I'm sick of replacing the blower motor and just want one that works. I'm considering a Delphi and an AC Delco, both from Rock Auto. Both have 12 month warranties. Both are "permanent magnet" type, and both say they are lubricated (AC Delco says "permanent" lubrication - guessing just some grease). Delphi is $72, AC Delco is $130. I don't care about price as much as just getting one that works and will continue to work. The exact same Delphi one is available at Auto Zone for $130 with a lifetime warranty.

Thoughts?

Also, I've been thinking for a while the voltage or something getting sent is too high. Thinking of also replacing blower motor resistor ($30 for AC Delco from RA). Thoughts on this, too?

You sure it's the motor that's going bad? The chirping noise you describe sounds a lot like the rotating wheel in the housing is rubbing up against the housing (mine did this when I replaced the blower motor on my '89 Accord a few years back). Turned out I hadn't gotten the blower wheel properly seated to the motor shaft and it was just rubbing on the plastic.

Same problem with I think 7 blower motors, all after working for a while before going bad, yeah, it is the blower motor.

Makes me think it is a voltage problem or something. I don't like the Factory Air blowers anyway, they are loud even when new and working correctly (not chirping, just too much air noise from a poorly designed wheel).

I know my friend's 07 vibe has poor electrical design. The horn wont even maintain constant sound due to voltage fluctuation.

Sounds like an electrical issue...
