Best All-Purpose Cleaner

I must have close to a dozen APC's. Around the house, my current fave is Fabuloso. Comes in a couple flavors, more widely available now than before. I dilute it 32:1 in a spray bottle for general use, 8:1 for kitchen use.

If you need something biodegradable, non toxic, and safe for children and pets, check out Charlie's Soap. Their APC is good but doesn't have the "bite" others do.

I like an aggressive cleaner as much as the next guy, but Super Clean is too aggressive for most household needs. It's fine to degrease the BBQ grille, or to clean an engine, but I'd never use it to clean around the house. Better read the MSDS on the stuff before bringing it inside.

I've had good luck with the ZEP orange cleaner from Home Depot. Has a nice smell, very powerful straight up, but can be diluted as needed depending on what your cleaning. Comes in a gallon size, lasts me a longtime. Tom

Goddards stone care products for the counters in the kitchen, baths and laundry room. Goddards wood care products for furniture, wood trim and other finished wood surfaces.

Stainless appliances in the kitchen get Goddards Stainless cleaner.

I use a leather cleaner/conditioner from a local furniture store for free (we purchased all of our leather furniture there).

For most other durable surfaces 409 is fine. I'd don't use an all purpose cleaner on some of the finer surfaces like our oak furniture, granite, etc.

something concentrated (I prefer Orange stuff) for an all purpose cleaner. That Rubbermaid degreaser sold at Menards is unreal at what it can do. For the tub, nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Tilex mold and mildew with root killer.

Try the Trader Joe's organic evirogreenie junk for the light stuff and Simple Green for the heavy stuff.

I don't think Greased lightning works as well as Simple green.

That purple super clean stuff has caustic, KOH I think.

Simple Green, I use teh watered down stuff from the 99c store for household things and use the concentrated stuff for Automotive or tough stuff.

So, my bottle of Windex all-purpose cleaner (yellow color) finally ran out.

I snuck into the janitorial supply closet and found some BLAST-IT General Purpose Cleaner-Degreaser:

Added 3-4 ounces to a quart of water and this stuff is incredible. It actually has a pretty strong film strength and feels like it has some viscosity. And it even cleans glass pretty well.

One cleaner does not fit all. Windex is good for light purpose cleaning and glass. Simple Green is good for heavy cleaning and degreasing.

It's like having a gun, they'll all kill to some degree, some just get it done faster.

I've never used PB Blaster, but if it's anything like WD40, aren't the fumes a bit too extreme for indoor use?

WD40 is a toy in comparison. PB is a lot stronger and has more of a harsh chemical smell. You don't use it on a regular basis, but when you need to clean a house during remodeling or new appliance install that may reveal a mark on the wall, PB or Sulfuric Acid (the undiluted one) is the stuff to use (on concrete or tiles).
