Man it's been toasty here in the Austin area where I'm visiting relatives. About 95F each day with a bazillion percent humidity. And all 3 of their cars have some sort of A/C malady (I fixed the one in the RAV4). Great timing . At least it was cooler in Lockhart when we did the Meat Trail BBQ "tour". Some of the best BBQ I've ever had was there. Well, thats it, just keeping folks abreast of what the recent retiree is up to and that he is melting.

I spent a little time in Arlington a few years back. The neighborhood streets were pretty empty as people were indoors with AC to escape the heat. The house I stayed in had 2 air conditioners, I believe. One was a backup? Dunno for sure.

Stay safe!

Agree, the past few weeks have been Louisiana/Houston-like with humidity and mold growing like crazy. There are mushrooms in my backyard that keep coming back. I do not recall this area getting this much rain in a long time, but its been overdue.

I am looking forward to in a week or two when the sun cranks up and the humidity drops. During the weekends I cut off outside work around noon-1pm. In the late afternoons I only work outside for about 10-15 minutes, then coming in for the same time to cool off, rinse/repeat.

I hear you clearly. I am 25mi west of New Orleans and its so hot, damp and rainy when the sun comes out you can almost see
the grass growing! I mean its like a steam sauna and you could really mow the lawn twice a week here.

Here on the NE side of the KC metro it got down to 55° last night. Before bed I opened a East window and a west window with a fan in front of the screen. When I went to bed it was 79° in the house. When I woke up it was 69°. Supposed to be 90° by late afternoon. By cooling of the house overnight my A/C probably won't kick on till 5 pm give or take a hour. Yesterday the house started off 4° warmer and didn't run till 5pm when the sun exposure is the greatest. only used 12kwh yesterday. The only time the air ran yesterday, although it ran 85 min. Our real heat wave is supposed to arrive around the 12th. I hate weather above 90° if their is high humidity.

Yeah the grid has good conditions. Glad I put 20 inches of insulation in the front of my house last year. Much cooler. I'm in one of the few areas of Texas (West San Antonio Hill Country) with drought still, we haven't had a lick of rain.
Smart move! I "over insulated" our house during a remodel; now I just close the windows and blinds and the house stays reasonably cool. Of course I can just blare the AC if I feel like it cuz I pay peanuts for electricity.

Summer in Texas. 95° each day? Whodathunk.

I live in Cape Coral, FL. and it has been HOT for several weeks. Typically 95F with 95%Humidity. Uggg. Ed
Not really possible. That would put the heat index over 150°F.

Got a son and his family in Nashville and he said its been really nice in the evenings up there. I have not been there in years to visit. Hope to again one of these days. Used to get up there 2 - 3 times a year.

Can the Texas Powergrid handle it?
Mine can - extremely reliable + my own backup …
I have a swamp cooler on the deck - contrary to popular opinion - they do work with our humidity - good enough to take a break - cool down etc -
I just turn on a fresh mister instead of the recirculating pump - it’s next to a flower bed anyway 🌸

I like the heat, I just finished cutting my lawn and now I’m going in the backyard to dig some holes and move some trees. hmmm well we will take it one tree at a time 🫤
It’s a good workout, I set my Apple Watch to record interval training🤣
