Bead leak due to nicks from tire spoons?

The front wheel on my motorcycle was losing pressure, maybe 2-3 psi per week when the weather was warmer, but now that its cold it started losing a lot faster, 10+ psi overnight. I found its leaking at the bead, from one particular spot, so I dismounted the tire and I see there is some damage from the tire spoons used to mount/dismount tires. What would be the best way to polish these out? Manual sand paper, or grinder with a particular type of wheel?

It's best to replace the tire. You don't want to take a chance on a questionable tire just to save a few bucks.

Sad to say that just happened to me on a brand new motorcycle rear tire. The spoons abraded a very small area near the bead and it would lose air constantly overnight. I bought another new on and paid the local motorcycle shop to mount and balance it.

Aluminum wheel? you can sand on it a little then use a shot of rattle can clear on that spot. Also wont hurt anything to wipe a finger full of bead sealer on any trouble spots before inflating.

Just to clarify, the damage is on the rim, not the tire - the are nicks/scratches into the aluminum bead from the steel spoons. Trying to see what is the best way to polish these out.
