I like the idea. I wonder what the cost is going to be.https://baxterperformanceusa.com/product/ms-201-bk-cartridge-to-spin-on-adapter/
I own two Pentastars and I can see how a spin-on would appear to be less hassle, but in reality I don't see how the Baxter adapter makes an oil change any easier. Plus, the spin on, being installed with the open end down, when removed would certainly dump oil in the valley of your engine. The cartridge will drain and you shouldn't spill even a drop of oil if you are careful. I also like the ease of cutting the cartridge filter to look for debris.
Cool idea, but I'll pass on this adapter.
There's no way it'll fit on a Caravan/Town and Country with a 3.6, the air cleaner tube runs where the spin on filter will end up.I wouldn't bother using this on the Caravan. It will be a small percentage that may want this.
The valvetrain does make a bit of noise until it gets oil pressure.I see they note the OE cartridge has no adbv. Anyone experiencing a start up rattle with their 3.6L? If not imo this point is a moot one.
Yeah, after I posted I thought I should have used the word 'significant' as a qualifier prior to start up rattle. If that 3.6L anecdote is representative of the tick, 'I' wouldn't consider it significant. It didn't sound bad to me. Wouldn't change my original thought on the topic. The valvetrain does make a bit of noise until it gets oil pressure.
We have a 2014 T&C and if it sits for more than a couple days she is a little noisy at start up. It goes away quick but by then the damage is done. I remember when we were shopping for ours in 2017, the first one the salesman fired up did this as I stood in front. I told him no thanks and moved on. Didn't even bother to look at the rest of the vehicle. He was perplexed by my decision. Once I looked at several more I realized that they were all doing it...Meh. The 3.6L is a cartridge filter on engine top application, right? Ime, the cartridge on engine top is well adapted to oil changes. I see they note the OE cartridge has no adbv. Anyone experiencing a start up rattle with their 3.6L? If not imo this point is a moot one.
I'll be curious of price, my speculation is relatively high (based on references given, $200+). That being the case, a little time saved here wouldn't be worth it (roi) for me. This from someone that does 'prefer' spin on type OF.
Looks like they will be making a remote filter adapterThe spin on goes on top … ?
Seems they would have made it a remote adapter to do filter and cooler loop if desired
Considering how fragile that filter/cooler is … something like this puts the filter on another mount and then you don’t touch it again …
