Just personal experience, but I've never had an Interstate battery fail. All have gone well past their warranty period without a single issue, and all have lived up to and beyond their rated life expectancy. Although they aren't the cheapest option, in my opinion the price premium is worth not dealing with failures after just a couple years.

I agree that Interstate is an excellent battery. One possible issue is the local shops do not have the same kind of turnover that Walmart has, so you need to check the date code.

Ended up going up with the AC Delco Professional Gold (group 75 size) for $105 + 42 month warranty. That was $25 cheaper than the same size Die Hard at Sears. Considering only 2-3 manufacturers make all the batteries, the names on them are more an advertising gimmick. They are all very similar. Comes down to the distributor standing behind the 36-42 month warranty.

Typically with no cell inspection covers the battery is maint. free, a slightly different type of internal construction that should never need water added.

Honestly...I would have a hard time NOT going with the $49 ValuePower battery from Walmart. (It's also a JC battery.)

Some "maintenance free" flooded batteries still have vents and no caps. Some give you the option to attach a vent tube to the opening. They can still lose level over time. The last battery I replaced was also called "maintenance free" even though it had inspection covers. I suspect that's why the previous owner figured it never required checking. It was 2-3 cups low on water when I got the car, exposing the plates. That was after 3 yrs and probably only 1K-2K miles of moderate driving. That's a lot of water loss for a New England car.

Changed the battery in my 2013 Elantra GT in 1-degree weather this morning....

It's been starting hard, then wouldn't turn over. The OEM battery is original when I bought the car in August of 2012.

I bought an Everstart Maxx for $107 at my local Walmart. Manufactured 12/2015. It had the best warranty and was the cheapest of the three I priced out at Auto parts stores.

I think that's the new starters and barely over spec batteries they use these days. Seems mine tend to crank over slower when it gets cold. BTW: Wind Chill does not affect non living things in any way at all.

MAXX. Look for the colored sticker for date of manufacture. Ask if Walmart will use the freshest battery on the rack. Some of the guys working in the auto dept can get a little testy when they are being ask questions by someone that knows most vehicles have four tires, they are round and are black.Regards

Can't go wrong with Deka.I've had great service from them.I'm lucky, I have a Deka store outlet 15 miles from me.Sometimes they have blemished batteries at a big discount.Nothing wrong with them, just a scratch or scrape...

Good choice.

I believe Motorcraft is still made by JCI. They can be ordered through O'Reillys and not have to pay for installation. If you have them near-longer hours and being a little cheaper is a plus if you run into any issues. Have an Everstart Maxx that tested bad in a little over a year, but the store honored their warrany no problem. O'Reillys uses East Penn for their Superstart line, but the warranty is 3 yrs with no prorated as it was explained to me.

I have had not so great experiences with my Cadillac and Jeep running Maxx batteries. So has my brother. None have lasted to their 3 years without some sort of issue. It's nice to keep getting replacements but I would almost rather have a battery I can get 6 years of reliable service out of and feel like I bought a quality product. The oldest battery in my Fleet is a Deka, battery is a champ, I just put it on the 6amp charger the other day and it was below 2 in no time.

That's one of the reasons i buy the DieHard, some cars you need to almost have the battery vertical to get it in there.
I have one going on 13 yrs and its CCA is within statistical noise of its rating, another one is 6 yrs and perfect. If they are loosing fluid they are sure taking their time at doing it.
I'm sold.
