Battery post has a lot of fuzz. Car wouldn't start this morning. Quick jump, started. Battery has been bleeding fuzz for over a year. The cable is frayed where it attaches to the connector. Is there anything I should be concerned about when working on battery/terminals. (Don't want to get zapped).

Any other tips? Tools? I have the new metal terminal.

First put on safety glasses and find a spare glove.Disconnect the NEG terminal first, slip the glove onto the (neg)wire terminal to prevent contact with anything .Clean posts (baking soda /water)Commence fixing the positive terminal, then neg terminal, use plenty of vaseline or spray-on electrical coating.

edit:if you cant find a glove, a clean rag wrapped well, will do.Also check the cables and grounds for corrosion while you're at it.
edit:Dont lay any tools across the battery.

Thanks. I often forget youtube. Found a number of video's but this onewas good.

Do I have to shrink wrap rubber/plastic around it or could I just use electrical tape?

Noco makes a kit they carry it at Walmart P/N MC101, it costs a little under $3. It contains two felt washers that fit over the terminals, they provide a barrier against acid fumes that seep through improperly sealed batteries. The kit also contains a spray on corrosion inhibitor that protects the cable connectors. You can learn more at their website http://www.noco-usa.com/pdf/Noco-Catalog-Chemicals.pdf I had a similar situation on my 2006 Milan, the washers and inhibitor kept my terminals clean for 3 years until I sold it. Also if you don't feel comfortable disconecting your battery the felt washers can be cut.

Clean the inside of the terminals shiny, but don't remove any more metal than you have to!
Same for the posts on the battery.
And of course clean off the battery top.
Tighten the terminals on the posts, THEN coat them with whatever. I like Rustoleum spray paint in black. A few light coats will seal the assemblies better than most stuff.

What kind of car?

Can't you just go to the dealer and get an entire cable assembly with a new terminal on it? That's what I would do if that option exists.

02 Camry. Where does it attach to? If I took the battery off would I see it? Is it a horror show to attach? I am game for a lot of stuff but I don't want to get too far in over my head.

What are you looking for? Where does the cable go?

Positive cable usually goes to the starter. But some split off a few places before then, and makes swapping the cable are real challenge.
