battery fire shuts down fwy.

I wonder about emergency responders being able to handle EV wrecks as they become more common.

The fires they produce behave differently and I'm not sure most departments are equipped to handle them.

Hopefully once Solid state batteries are fully ready for market we can phase out lithium ion batteries for good. It would be wise to mandate Lithium Ion phase out, I don't like storing them in my home. Although I have a large Lipo4 portable power unit inside stored at 75% charge.
Wow, I never thought about that. I have a few 18v and 40v power tool batteries in my garage. Also, the batteries in two laptop PCs. I think it might be a good idea to at least keep them off the chargers except when we're home. That said, I haven't heard about any fires started by these type of batteries, except on an Air Disasters TV show when dozens of them in a baggage compartment were exposed to high temperatures, or maybe it was they were poorly packed and got jostled around..

I never leave my Milwaukee 18v batteries on charge unless I'm nearby. Once they are charged they go in my toolbox drawer. And this is in my sprinkled garage.
