Moisture is becoming an issue with the bathroom ceiling. Would like to paint the ceiling with an eggshell or a satin paint. Most of the chains and paint stores near me only sell flat. Is there any reason why I can’t use a eggshell wall paint on my bathroom ceiling?

If you have moisture then the ventilation is insufficient. Panasonic is the gold standard for bathroom fans. Also check your ventilation duct routing and exit. As for paint, eggshell or satin enamel is best.

Go to an actual paint store.

Old school thinking on sheen type doesn't mean as much today as it did years ago. I painted the entire interior of my parents summer Lake Erie house with PPG Manor Hall. Eggshell on the walls and flat on the ceiling. Manor Hall is mildew resistant in all sheens. The house gets winterized and goes through crazy temperature fluctuations. It has held up great.

Just did my bathroom, had some patching to do as I scraped off the popcorn ceiling. Primed with Killz Original just to seal up a few old stains, let that dry for a week and painted with Sherwin Williams Showcase acrylic eggshell, it's advertised as mold and mildew resistant. Would have gone through one of my commercial suppliers but it was a Sunday and I wanted it done now. I was pretty happy with the paint for a homeowner grade product from Lowes.
