iPhone se 1st gen with latest update or Samsung galaxy a01”also latest update”? Again basic texting and calls.. no banking etc.

Depends which platform you have used in the past.

iPhone is monkey proof.
Very true. I’m familiar with both os’ just got my hands on a free galaxy a01.. ran updates it has android 11 ui 3 which is a very snappy os and was thinking possibly this would make a nice device for my side business just shooting a text or making a few calls during the week. The se 1st gen is still very capable. Tomorrow I’ll play around with sending my iPhone contact list over to gmail contacts and give this a trial run for the week.

I'm surprised that Apple hasn't made a device for the older aka elderly crowd.
Hmmm .... what would that mean? Big numbers to dial a phone? Ect? Almost sounds condescending but I know that isnt your meaning. Maybe something more called a phone for the disabled which could be any age group. Yet there are so many types of disabilities.

Some other brand offers one like that called a Jitterbug.
I assume Google, Samsung, LG and Apple dont see a market for it. I personally never saw a person using a jitterbug. But I see MANY young people and older seniors wearing an Apple Watch. Heck I want one if for nothing to watch my heart rate and ekg... and since diabetes in the family look forward to blood sugar monitoring... and lets not forget there is almost an app for anything that can be added to the phone itself.

Im sure there is a use but not enough for the above companies to make profitable or powerful enough to provide the services for seniors like Apple does when their phone is linked to the Apple Watch with fall detection, heart rate, EKG and soon to come blood sugar levels all from the watch linked to the phone. Apple has saved 100's of lives through this use and I am sure maybe the Android system has too? That I dont know, not up to date on android..

My mother inlaw is 90 years old, lives on the other side of the world, over 18 hours of flight time to get there. God bless her is doing great, has no problem making a phone call but more amazing to some I guess she has been using an iPad for the last decade or close to it. Just got the newer larger one for Christmas from us. She loves the thing, sends photos back and forth to family in the US, FaceTime all the time, a real expert.

Im only saying this to provoke thought for others who have a senior, it doesnt matter age, its the desire to learn or not. I can see some seniors giving up but that is a choice.
The iPad is a perfect platform but the iPhone is no more difficult to us, touch the phone button to make a call, touch the text button to send a text, countless different keyboards to type on in the Apple store too. The new iPhones so well built you can literally take it in the shower with you but would be much better off wearing the Apple Watch which is a major important device if you are worried about someone who lives alone or could suffer a medical event ...
... and I am just blabbing away ... because I am amazed by what apple has on their watches and up and coming now, blood sugar monitoring without pricking your finger.
