You're welcome. Had them on since end of 2012. I also wanted to let everyone know that this is the actual mpg which is decent for an Si in mixed driving.

If he had an Accord or Camry he'd probably be looking for something to hang himself with... I know I would. :-) At least he gets that mileage on regular, unlike me :p

That said, there's no reason NOT to go looking for a few extra tenths of an MPG or even more. Its all in good fun.

Well, there is one. ROI. One would have to get enough of a MPG, or GPM (gallons per mile) difference to offset the cost of the additive

KNOWLEDGE is return on investment too, for those who are interested in such things as whether or not MoS2 does any good. Maybe it doesn't lower operating costs, but its interesting to simply try to learn if it is lowering frictional losses.

If YOU are really INTERESTED, you would do it YOURSELF. Because without verifiable DATA you are relying on a STORY on the internet.

When it came to Zmax, I didn't rely on a STORY. I invested the time and money to find out for myself.

That's exactly my point! He is doing it himself. I could care less about MoS2, I was just defending the OP against what I perceived as criticism that he was wasting everyone's time by doing something that might never pay for itself.

Where do we find verifiable oil additive data, that can't be picked apart in 2 seconds or less? Kudos to those doing their own testing, I'd consider believing it before I believe some additive testing posted by the company selling it. JMO

I strive to be as unbiased as possible. This is a German product I have no connection with, and honestly I'm anti-additive in general. It would be great to see positive results, but I'm not expecting them.

I may be posting results from my Frontier before the Civc since the weather has taken a turn for the worse (hot & humid) and the civic's AC is marginal at best.

K.
First run. Mostly highway however 50 miles were in the city.
235 miles
Car required 9.85 gallons to bring it back to full which means I got an average of 23.9mpg.
I'm in awe to be honest.
This week will be more indicative because mileage will be more of a 50/50 split of city/highway miles. This tank was 75% or more highway.
Will update on the next fill up.
Car is certainly smoother with less vibration at idle. I used a glass of water on top of my air box and took a vid of the vibrations. Did the same today and the water is vibrating much less.
Not scientific but indicative none the less

AC was on full blast the entire time.

Just for the record, I'm on your side. I did some informal testing of my own for several products, some worked well some were over-hyped garbage. In the end its testimony from people I believe to be credible and not have an agenda that peaks my interest. Then the thought process begins, and I might just give the product a shot. MoS2 was a product I learned about here and gave it a shot. I had good results with it. Test results, well it depends on who paid for them, and most IMO that I've seen leave a lot to the imagination, but I give them a look at too.

Personally I appreciate Clevy and Brule posting up their anecdotal experience. The standard naysayers always pop up and are dutifully ignored. But the info is interesting and appreciated!

I may be a "naysayer" to 99.999% of additives. But I'm NEVER a naysayer to data, even if its not 100% scientific. Give me the data, and I'll draw my own conclusions- which is why I like every single UOA, every single "I'm going to track mileage while using this additive" thread, and every single cut-open oil filter thread.

I always think of BITOG as being an engineering-oriented site, and so I tend to be shocked when people turn down data or say 'how many cut-open oil filters do we have to see??' I guess some people that come here do so mostly for the 'detail and wax' forum. :-p

I'm happy to do it. I'm going to cut open my filter after this run. I don't think I'm going to end everything at 3000 miles. It feels like a waste to me. Heck I saved the 3000 mile filter I removed because I just can't bring myself to junking it until I'm sure its used up.
A friend has a hemi. I may give it to him. He's sludged up so a short run with it may help me with the waste angle.
I figure if even 1 person reads this, tries the stuff and ends up with a fuel savings that's less fuel burned as a whole.
Every little bit helps

Clevy please cut the filter open and post pictures, that will debunk [hopefully] the myth that some people believe that it clogs filters.

Give your friend the next filter. LOL

I'll cut it open and take pics but I don't know how to post them,so I'll have to email it to someone more computer literate than I.
A short vid perhaps.

Anyways I filled up today. 412 miles on the odo. 17.89 gallons of fuel = 23 mpg.
This run is far more indicative of my driving habits. 60/40 highway/city split.
Mos2 must be doing something.
Same gas station, same pump every time.
Interesting.

I'll post them for you. PM me when you're ready and I'll tell you where to send them.

Update: still getting baseline mpg for the Frontier. It's approaching 100 degrees here but my civic numbers are with no AC. Frontier results will be with constant AC so this is what I'm driving now. Next week I will post exact numbers. So far results are very consistent & predictable averaging 17.21 mpg with AC, 50/50 driving.

(Weather Channel shows even Saskatoon got to 90 f today. Didn't realize it got that hot up there.)

Oh heck we've been in the low seventies to low eighties, more seventies for it seems for many weeks. We had on "hot" spell in early July for a week otherwise it's been a "coolish" summer. For the first time in 30 years I've had to cut my grass every week due to the cool temps and rain. In the years past come late June till mid September the grass didn't need cutting, it was dry.

Summer here hits 40c and the winter get as low as -40. We get a serious temp swing.
I filled up this morning and drove to the city. No wind to speak of. I reset the mpg meter at every fill up but I still calculate mileage according to the amount of fuel the tank takes to get full. And I fill it to the absolute brim each time to lessen the chances of inconsistency as far as when the pump shuts off.
Anyways I set cruise at 70mph. I usually get 26mpg on the way to Saskatoon and 24 on the way home. Its an uphill climb on the return trip.
Anyways only me on the road,no drafting and I saw the mpg display hit 28.4 mpg.
I've never seen it get that high. After running around the city, and the drive home my average thus far according to the gauge is 25+.
I've never seen it this high. I know the average is going to drop because of my city driving but I've got around 600 miles on this sump fill with 1.5 cans of mos2 and I think the plating effect has happened.
I'm looking forward to this being over. I've got 8 cans of cera-tec. I want to treat the engine with it,then mos2 and see if that changes anything.

Just use >>>tinypic
It's so easy, even a caveman could do it.

I'm on either my iPad or iPhone. Some forums have apps that facilitate posting pics. This isn't one of them.
