Los Angeles Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda dies at 93
The Dodgers confirmed that the Hall of Fame manager died Thursday night after suffering a heart attack.

He was one of the best managers ever. I used to like watch the Dodgers when they came to Chicago to play at Wrigley Field.

I'm hazarding a guess here....Hired as a manager; never played the game, no?
He played briefly in the majors and 14 years in AAA. I was not a diehard baseball fan as a kid but I knew who Tommy Lasorda was. He had a great personality and was a very talented manager.

Sandy was one of the best - young Pedro was better! - but his curveball ended his shoulder way too early.
Lasorda rekindled my interest in baseball. I was channel surfing and caught the last inning of an NLCS game in'77. 8 2/3 innings Dodgers 2 runs down. Lasorda pulls #8 hitter and pinch hits his 1st base coach, Vic Davalia. He reaches on a bunt. Tom puts in Manny Mota, 3rd base coach, for the 9th batter, he bangs a triple. Top man reaches drives, Mota home. #2 batter homers to win game.
