Out of those three that I mentioned, I know it is hard to follow number 2

I don't think doing either #2, or #3 separately will get you banned, but bashing one (i.e. an emotional argument, devoid of facts, suport, logic) while promoting another may get you banned for having an obvious agenda, and rightly so.

I don't really bash products or manufacturers, but I will suggest using a particular one when I have had good success with it. I guess this is dependent upon the definition of "promoting."

Had a couple of 2-day vacations, and a full week off once.

Have to say, you KNOW when you are going to get banned...there is lots of warnings given.

I may not like the way some things are handled here, but it IS a private baord, owned by someone. They can create the rules they want.

I think of it like my house - if someone came in, broke my dishes, insulted my family, and kept yelling at me, well...he'd go out the front door, and not be allowed back in for a while.

I've politely mentioned a sponsored product doesn't work for me. It's a product with a money back guarantee; I did not seek the guarantee because I don't feel it was the fault of the product. I did in fact need a mechanical fix.

The sponsored products do well with peer review, as should any technical writing. My criticisms were not deleted.

My cash sponsorship is a percentage of the money I save from stuff I read about in the rebates section, that I would not have otherwise discovered. I recommend anyone that saves money due to this site do the same.

I was banned for a week or so for being "political". Specifically my post referred to global warming.

I didn't realize it was such a "hot button".

This seems largely to be because people on both sides of the issue think it's a matter of opinion and politics, not science.

Well, then I guess i'm not a good member. Seeing your response and that of a few others, I can see where this is going.

You Know, there is more than one way to look at and consider every point you made in the above quote. Some people on here (no, i'm not alone) get tired of the favoritism and over-modding. Doesn't matter how much sponsor support is here, this site is still useless without members. About the shirts, it wasn't a demand, just a request - notice I was asking, not demanding. Please read more closely instead of seeing an opportunity to jump on someone (like happens so often on here)and try to get away with it. Oh yeah, definately no apologies, I was simply expressing a view shared by quite a few members (and ex-members) - i'm just the only one that would stand up and say it.

Right. But when someone doesn't act accordingly, they need to be handled appropriately - asking the OTHER member(s) affected by a rowdy/bully to "just ignore the (insulting/heckling) PMs sent by the rowdy" and not doing a thing with the annoying bully is just WRONG...not to mention mysterious/puzzling.

Why do you think those sponsors pay to advertise here? Who is the intended audience?

One system that works well in many forums and comments system on the net is the vote up/down options. If there is an offensive or stupid post, people will vote up/down and make it eventually hidden. This can get a lot of the bias or headache off the mods and people will feel better that it is the "democracy" at work here.

However, if the mods' choices aren't common, then they'll lose control over what they want to regulate.
