Pics below. Truck had this filter in it for 2 years now and its hit 10K miles. Does the filter look contaminated or is that normal with the new Bio-Diesel stuff?? Is this brown stuff signs of water contamination? I did a full tank of diesel 33+ Gallons with a diesel extreme treatment right before.

I've been running the Baldwin PF7977 for about 12 years now, when I first bought my truck I popped the filter out and it was black.
I installed the Baldwin and a few months later added a Donaldson P553203 on the rail to protect the fuel system of my 5.9.
I change the PF7977 out at around 7.5k as well as the P553203, cheap insurance.
As mentioned above your filter looks OK but I would recommend changing out the filter once a year even if low mileage,I would add that the PF7977 is rated 5 microns and Cummins specs 3 microns for the fuel system.
It would be a good idea to add a better lower micron filter between the oem fuel filter canister and your cp3 such as what I run and keep the PF7977 in the stock canister, Injectors are expensive nowadays and fuel isn't always as good as it should be.

I think with the short mileage for the time stated, I would run a dose of algaecide for a couple of tanks just in case. Especially if any water intrusion is present whether in the fuel or from condensation. We have trouble with it around here in storage tanks.

It goes through fuel regularly

That used filter still looks pretty good. I have a PSI gauge on my final filter before the CP3.

I have yet to see my Baldwin filter clog up or my WIX that I can tell.
I had an 1R0750 as the tertiary next to the cp3 pump and it finally clogged after 10,000 miles, PSI dropped to 2.5
It is a very fine filter, I figure it caught enough of the little micron stuff the flow rate dropped.

At the tank the PSI is 7. When I changed the primary WIX 33118 large DD60 filter mounted on the frame rail next to tank, my final PSI did not change, so there was nothing wrong with it. And when I changed the PF7977 the PSI did not change

I think all I have to change is the very fine filter near the cp3
When I put on the new very large 416-1225 CAT, the final PSI is 5 psi
