Baldwin B7443 5,00 miles CUT OPEN

Normally do not do filter cut opens but there is few Baldwins posted so I thought I would throw mine up here. B7443 is what is cataloged for my RAM 2500 6.4L and is what I used. Ran it for 5,00 miles with no issue using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40. Can is the usual thicker than average seen on most Baldwins with a still pliable ADBV. Media look fine and was nice and even in spacing.

Was there any dirt in it? I have yet to find any dirt in any of my filters. Seems like they good go for 100K miles.

Nothing I could tell. Currently at 20K miles and has been well maintained the whole time so I do not expect much in terms of dirt or sludge.

I bought mine from zoro.com. They usually run 20% off coupons a lot of time plus they have free shipping over $50. This gets them in the $4.79 range usually delivered in quantity.

As far as mileage, averaging about 14.2 MPG with a 80%/20% HWY/CTY driving ratio. If you hyper mile the [censored] out of it with all highway driving, can see 17 MPG's but that is the exception and not the norm. There is a 1.5 MPG hit for winter blend gas.

I have no clue. Getting numbers for Baldwin beta ratios for a specific part number is a challenge. Historically Baldwins do not have high efficiency numbers on average as they are primarily a fleet and farm market producer that tends to lean on higher flow numbers than efficiency numbers. If I was to guess, I would say a 90%-95% efficiency rating.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Baldwin support line and they said "12 nominal, 30 absolute with a 85.44% efficiency rating" for this filter.

Baldwin are one of my favorites as they are tough as nails. If you run long (oversized) filters, occasionally they'll get hit with a stick or a root in off-road conditions. Never even had one Baldwin dent

The efficiency will go up with use. Leave on for at least two changes ...

I do not play that nonsense of skipping filter changes between intervals. If I getting my a$$ rolling under the RAM for the drain, the filter is getting changed regardless while I am there.

Is the center tube on the baseplate side glued into the baseplate all around? I bought some BT223 from zoro and the center tube inside was like cut off too short on part of the diameter. It was the same on two samples. It left the rough metal bottom edge exposed and the media could be seen in the gap. I sent them back. The louvers are not punched the same way as Purolator, much better design.

I've bought a few of their bt223 and all of mine were that way

Center tube is full length between end plates. Attachment method though I am unsure of and did not tear apart to check before discarding remains.
