balanced wheels

Would using my car with the wheels not balance cause any kind of damage to my suspension?
At certain speeds my steering wheel has a slight shake (shimmy/warble etc).

It doesn't bother me because too much but i was told that there can be damage to my suspension and axle.
My tires are almost new so im not due to a tire shop anytime soon.

It may in the long run cause some bolts to loosen if the vibration is bad enough otherwise I would say no.

It's more load on everything, so, yeah. I would also worry about wheel bearings, u-joints in your steering column, your steering rack, etc.

Rebalance or rotate as you might have a bent wheel which will do less damage in the rear.

Was the shake there before the tires were replaced? If not, take it back to the tire shop ASAP and if too much time hasn't passed get them to fix it - assuming you paid to have them balanced. An imbalance will cause extra wear - it makes no sense to continue driving without trying to get it out.

Why not just have it balanced correctly? Go to a place that guarantees their work and keep bringing it back til they get it right.

I dont think it will cause any damage tho

If you never got above 35mph it wouldn't much matter. At speeds above that, yeah. More wear on everything, including yourself.

Tires out of balance can cause the following parts to wear faster:

>Ball joints
>Bushings
>Tie rods
>Wheel bearings
>Rack & pinion
>Steering column joint & bearings

If it happens to be a bent wheel, get it straightened or replace it.

My mother-in-law has a 2001 N16. The steering column joint is crazy expensive for that car, as is the rack & pinion

I can't see why someone would pay X thousands of dollars for a sedan and then ride around with shakes and shimmy's... Get the tires balanced and get the ride it should have. It'll save wear and tear and be nicer
