balance every 5K miles? 15K? Ever?

LOL! I'm not sure why these (Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring) have lasted so long. They were $75 each, shipped free to my local Walmart. I paid the 7.50 for lifetime rotation/balance. They are between 3/32 and 4/32 now. I'll probably replace in the next few months.
Secrets? YMMV, but
1. Treadwear rating above 600
2. Easy throttle, easier braking
3. I inflate 3-5psi over the recommended pressure
4. Rotate/balance every 5-10K
5. Low demands from me...I have extreme summer perf tires on my Porsche. This is a Bonneville. I don't get the two confused.
Arguments
1. Safety? A more performance oriented tire would reduce my stopping distance. Yep, but I've 275K on my pickup, 222K on the Bonneville and have never bumped anything with either. Not to say it can't happen, but if a person runs into the back of another car every few years, or the back wall of the garage, the tire selection isn't to blame.
2. Comfort? The tires are still quiet and smooth. Outer edges of front tires look a little smoother than rears, but I've stopped rotating 20K miles ago.
3. Hassle? No plugs, no problems, just 115K miles of good wear.
4. Would I buy again? They don't have this exact tire in the lineup, I don't think. But it will probably be Tiger Paws of some type. Unless a smoking deal comes along on something else.
Not looking to stir up the Michelin gang, or my dad can beat up your dad, crowd. Just some facts, and some editorial.

I only rebalance if I have a problem. There are some people who say that as a tire wears it needs to be rebalanced and that's probably where the 5000 mile rebalance idea came from. While it might be true I have yet to have a problem just rotating tires and rebalancing when I need new tires.
