Bad Idea? Maxlife Dino in my 1.8T Passat

Run some auto RX with dino 5w30 then go to 5w40 synthetic. Dont Use dino oils alone in these motors they sludge up and take out the oil pump with out warning. That maxlife is #@$%! just get a quality synthetic and some auto rx and the engine will stay happy.

0w-30 dino??? I didn't realize there was such a thing, unless you meant 5w30.

One of the dealers around me uses dino too, or at least the guy working there I asked did. When I mentioned VW502 he retracted and said "uh, oh yeah, maybe we use Castrol in the turbos..." so who really knows what they use.

Oh well, I don't get serviced at that dealer, just buy my parts there.

Sad thing is that they wanted to charge me $30 extra to use the Syntech, that's about $60 per oil change!

that's part of the reason why I started changing my own oil.
