Back up a hard drive on a "new to me" laptop

I just received a new to me IBM Thinkpad T60p. It has a fresh install of Windows XP Professional and what I'd like to do before I do anything on it is create a bootable backup of the hard drive on a DVD. What I'm envisioning is that I'd be able to pop that disc in and load Windows. I've loaded Windows a million times from a disc, but never created my own personal backup.

Is there a utility on XP Pro that would allow me to do this? If not, what's a decent program that I can use to do this?

there is software you can purchase.. like acronis

or free like macrim reflect

the windows 7 backup is decent but I dont remember xp havent a backup that I ever used.

I believe there is one but maybe not as easy to use.

Look into Acronis or Norton Ghost. XP doesn't have a backup utility.

it appears it does

but its not as good as 3rd party free stuff.
