Whenever we've taken our 10 month old son out to eat, my wife and I have never had a problem being treated poorly. We do our best to keep him happy, though, so he's not disturbing others. Being a good natured, happy kid at heart, that's not usually too much of a problem unless he's very tired and cranky. He also likes to flirt with the waitresses, which usually results in better service. In return, they've always treated him very nicely and we even sometimes have different waitresses stopping by to see him.
On the other side of the coin, going out to eat with him is definitely more stressful for us. It's a lot of work feeding him and keeping him happy in a restaurant so we don't go out nearly as often.
