i am a newbie to this forum, hope this is in the right place... i was wondering if anyone has used this product, B12 Chemtool from berryman's.. it contains toluene, supposidly you can use it in your oil to clean before you change it and you can use it in your gas to clean injectors and what not.. i was wondering if anyone had good or bad experiences... i have a 96 pathfinder se 4x4 with a 3.3L.

Nothing but good can I say about the old original Berryman B12 . Good stuff for my uses

A very knowledgable transmission mechanic from another board recommends B12 as a temporary solution for transmissions where low line pressure is causing delayed engagement, late/soft shifts and the like. It apparently loosens up hardened seals enough to make the trans work properly for a while.
It sounds like he's confusing Berryman B-12 "Chemtool" with Berryman B-7 "Chemseal".

Some of the components flash off easily, so make sure the engine has cooled down before adding & drain it quickly after the 5-10 min of run time.
As always, the concern is with repetitive treatments and the effect on engine seals.
This is probably one of the stronger engine flush products on the market, due to the toluene & acetone.

No, Berrymans B12 Chemtool in the red, white and blue can.
It does an excellent job on cleaning injectors and fuel system. I've never put it in my oil.

2 Butoxyethanol,Glycol Ether EB 10 percent
Kereosene 40 percent
Gunk Flush
Aliphatic Petroleum Distilate 88-92 percent

But I would not put those in your gas tank

Isn't that a whole lot like laquer thinner? Seriously I am asking not being a wise#$%.
Prior to finding this board I used B-12 in the fuel one tank before every oil change. I used in in sludged up used vechiles routinely and I used it to clean carboned up valves all the time! I first strated useing it in 1991 when my Grandfather recomended it to me. I have also used it in two cylinder John Deer gasoline tractors to clean out dirty fuel systems. My Dad only uses this B12 as his injector cleaner and has done so since 1991. He currently does the same one tank before oil change routine on his 1995 Tacoma and has had no problems at all.
I would still use it in the fuel system and on carboned up parts but would not use it in oil. Their are too many other products that will clean an engine and will not risk seal damage. Lube Control,Nutrea 131 and Auto-Rx come to mind.
I have never had B12 damage a seal or anything like that but their is always that first time. It is a potent cleaner and 15 minutes at fast idle is all that I would ever do. Do not use as a mater of routine!
