b&s v-twin 27hp engine..switch to synthetic now?

only about 10hrs on it now. currently using sae30 rotella. can i change over to syn. now or wait for more break-in hrs.

I recently changed to M1 10-30 in my new Briggs 21 HP mower. I had about 4 hrs on the engine when I changed.

good enough answer for me...just thought maybe you had to wait a few hrs. didn't know if tolerances are anything like todays i.c.e. in the auto's or not.

New Platinum Series 26 HP here, changed at 6 hours to 15w-50 M1.

Tolerances are much narrower these days but clearances haven't really changed much at all.

Why bother? I am a proponent of HDEO for OPE. I run 15W-40 in my 7hp chonda HF generator and B&S Intek lawnmower. Excellent fuel economy and no problems. Normally available for about $3/qt.
