I have the Toro 22" AWD Recycler with the B&S EXi 7.25. They recommend 5w30 FS or 10w30 conventional. I really like the QS 5w30 syn blend on paper but I wasn't sure if the Syn Blend 5w30 would provide enough Anti Wear Protection or what ever they want you to use 10w30 conventional over 5w30 FS?

+1 I use whatever is around the garage otherwise I would buy any conventional 10w30. I usually use supertech in my small engines for years now without any issues

My Honda calls for 10w30, and that's what I use during the cooler Spring and late Fall months. When it gets hot, straight 30 is all it gets. My old Briggs motors get the same treatment. I have been using Pennzoil yellow bottle for mowers because Ace Hardware always has a sale in the Spring on Pennzoil, and I can get it a lot cheaper by the quart than at any other store.

Briggs only recommends conventional 5w30 for 40* F and below. I know your 5w30 is blend but how much different would perform than conventional 5w30 is to be seen. To be sure use 10w30 conventional if you don't want to use synthetic 5w30. Be sure to check the oil level frequently, especially when using conventional oil. I use synthetic 5w30 in my Briggs generator and it runs hours and hours without having to add any oil.

Forgot, if you're going to use a 10w30 look to get a HDEO such as Rotella T 10w30. It's extra stout and it'll give your engine extra protection over conventional 10w30. I use that in my under powered snow blower that I really punish and it holds up well.

B&S now recommends a synthetic 5w30 for all temperatures as the primary oil. In addition, 10w30 is also recommended. For those disbelievers, google B&S oil viscosity recommendations. Ed
