My mother grew up a few miles from the B&M plant on the waterfront in Portland ME; it was great driving by and smelling the beans; a few more miles and JJ Nissen bread factory.

I remember seeing a can of generic white and black label "chicken" at a (poor family) buddy's house as a teenager. Me and another friend thought it was the funniest thing at the time. Poor kid, he was embarrassed to have something so vile and generic in his moms pantry.

shoo-fly is a southern thing, big w/ the Mennonites in VA and the Amish is PA. basically it's molassas (sp?) in a pie shell.
now, canned chicken was menitioned up higher, now THERE'S a delicacy! I think I have a can of 'premium' canned clucker in the pantry, think I'll need to make some chicken salad tonight...
