Avoid mahle oc707 filters

Do NOT use OC 707 filter! I discovered that the anti drainback valve on those filters are badly designed and will not seal properly. I had issue with startup lifter noise for over few months after an oil change but never connected them. And when I finally changed my oil again I discovered that the anti drainback valve on both the used OC 707 and a brand new one frim another batch would leak. Contacted mahle but they are probably too busy to respond. Good thing I bought from rock auto, they gave me the full refund for the filters.

My filter is made in Mexico, and I don't know if this problem is widespread on other mahle filters.

Will never buy another Mahle product again.

Hmm. Wonder if you got a bad one or it was something with the oil weight your engine didn't like... I got several OC707s from a recent group purchase, and have already used two of them on a Subaru and a Honda with ZERO issues.

Please provide pics and how you discovered the the ADBV design is defective. This is a board of data and empirical proof, so while we welcome you to the board as a new member, be prepared to be called out when you make claims like this against a well-known, well-respected manufacturer.

If there's something I would have changed in the OP's original post, I would have asked members here to Beware of oc707s, not boycott them.

Well-known, well-respected manufacturers make factory production errors too. Where does it state in the by-laws here that the new member must provide pics or empirical proof here. If you believe he's lying, then report this thread to Mahle Inc. I believe he's sincere and from the sounds of it, so does Rockauto.

Interesting. Used this exact filter on my 2016 F150 with no issues. Cut a couple open and nothing showed me to be alarmed about.

Triple, I don't think he's lying. Maybe I came off a little strong and that was not my intention, but just like every other outlandish claim that has been made on this board (engines ruined by M1, etc...), pics are always useful to help educate people on the board. Especially with no previous posts and claims that there are manufacturing defects... if all of the Purolator tear claims had been made without any pics or other evidence, would anyone except the person who found the tear believe it?

And yes, I have a personal interest in seeing the carnage... I have five or six of these on the shelf from Hootbro, so I need to know if I should scrap them

I think this was a drive by poster. Hasn't been back since he posted this.

I call them "Pump and Dump" thread starters. Usually they have a under 10 post count with most just being the 1.

I get it Hootbro, and that's why I was following up. There were a couple other posters who jumped on me about asking for proof, but if it was a real thing there would have been additional posts by the OP. I smell troll.

I sent '53 Stude a used and new Mahle OC707 to cut open for the board. We'll see exactly what is in these filters, not driveby conjecture. My bet is that other than the nitrile ADBV, there is nothing at all concerning about the construction of this filter.

Yep, probably just another one-and-done nitwit. That said, I've also run across similar posts on other boards that I suspected were guerrilla marketing- paid shills hired to either hammer or praise a particular product. There was a guy on the Car and Driver "Backfires" forums who would jump into any thread criticizing Lincoln vehicles and defend them. I bluffed and told him I knew he was being paid by Lincoln and he never reappeared...

Yeh, I don't buy the line of b.s. The OP spouted off about. I've cut a few Mahle filters and all were fine.

Probably banned again
