So many promises with electrification yet so few results. Now we have some no name rip-off claiming a faster time than a Porsche 918.

Sure.

I didn't realize this was a Russian company, so I take the information with a grain of salt. The 0 to 62 mph time of 2.2 seconds is hard to believe.
But I am not sure what you mean by so few results. Tesla has changed the world. Their cars are amazing.
I agree other car makers have fallen far short of expectations. Audi, Porsche and Jaguar EVs are prime examples. I hear the Audi is being sold $10K off MSRP.

EVs as a fuel savings value proposition have failed. Now its value proposition is that of luxury performance.

Interior tech and 0-60 times are what are enticing about EVs, not much else.

Even then you have overheating and highly limited rang during spirited driving.

I charge with solar panels.
Highly agree with interior tech and acceleration. The whole care is high tech. Handling is superb, as well.
Tesla is far ahead of the other EV manufacturers regarding range. And getting better. "Battery Day" is coming in September.

These cars, as mass produced vehicles, are in their infancy.
The Tesla China plant is using all the learning from the Fremont plant and making better cars, and cheaper at that.
People like me are early adopters; we pay a price for that. For sure.
I still consider Teslas expensive toys. Just like Beemers, Vettes, MBZ, etc. Each to their own...

You have still lost me on "so few results". Tesla is the number 1 luxury car in sales, by a bunch.
Personally I am happy to see an American company succeeding; being #1, in a huge emerging market.
All good.

Charging via solar panels is not a feasible option for the overwhelming majority of people. What's your payback period?

#1 in terms of what? The Germans are still the kings of luxury and will be for a long time. A Tesla will never have the status of Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, nor Audi. The Japanese have tried for decades and still come up short.

A flagship Tesla is nowhere the driver of a base 911 let alone GT3 territory.

The Germans already have electrification far along the way but they have decades of R&D in all kinds of platforms, designs, and heritage.

I personally hate EV and far prefer well built mechanical for different reasons, but also because of the smugness and superiority complex of EV owners.

Nothing like a guy in a Tesla thinking he's Nikki Lauda because he can press down with his right foot and go fast in a straight line.
