Autozone Lifetime Brakes?

Yeah, but i'm trying to compare them to my bendix pads (now looked up, they are semi-metalics). I feel perfectly safe with the bendix stuff, but it's getting harder and harder to get in stores which is what i prefer to do. BTW, is it true that harder is always "betteR" or safer?

I've used the Bendix Import Quiet pads in the past and they are great but hard to find at a local auto parts store.

I have used AZ's lifetime brakes since 2004, and havent paid for pads since, on my 2002 Envoy! I replace them every year worn or not, never a question from AZ.

Ive towed my boat (6000lbs) and never a problem with stopping or brake dust for that matter.

I installed the cheapie ceramic AZ pads for someone and they did not fit right and were just junk and I had to put on something else. I've never had any problems with the Advance Auto Wearever Gold though. I usually use Raybestos or Bendix.

What kinds were they, the gold ceramics? Or the cheapy semi-metalics. Also have you had to change your rotors because of them?

Sorry for the delay in my reply!!

In 139,000 miles, I have replaced my rotors once. These pads are NOT hard on rotors.

I use the pads that have the lifetime warranty. They are semi-metallic. They are 1 step above the 1 year warranty ones. I replace them every year, worn or not and love it!! I like doing this too because it gives me a chance to clean off the slides and re-grease everything down there.

Also I tow my boat a few times a year (6000lbs). The trailers brakes dont work, and those semi-metallics from AZ do a great job.

Ah, thanks for the response! I find it interesting that they don't eat the rotor, guess they must have a very low metal contact compared to the other "good-stuff". How worn do they get in the year you use them out of curiosity. Also, is dust with them bad?
Thanks

the AZ lifetime on their pads is just that.. lifetime warranty against manufacturer defect AND wear. Lose your receipt, just remember the phone # you gave.
There is no limit, the limit is as long as you own the vehicle, once you sell it, warranty over.
any AZ that puts a limit should be reported to HQ because they aren't following the rules.
And last I check AZ pads were made by Morse.
Good pad, not my first choice though...

the duralast gold's when they came out were junk. they've improved immensely since.

Problem with Bendix pads.. the price. We were sellign Bendix forever it seemed like. but after a few years the price was already at $50. next thing we know the price is up to $63 and nobody's even considering them because raybestos was at $38 and "good enough".
Bendix was also big into branding.. they'd have multiple names for a ceramic pad.
they sold a semi-metallic pad. then they had a "titanium" metallic. All that was 2 blue stripes baked onto the pad to help it break in faster. you paid more for the stripes that arguably did nothing. After the blue streaks were worn in, the pad was just a semi metallic after that.

I can't find bendix anywhere locally.. i have to order from summit if I ever want a set..

Thanks! But again, how bad are the dust on these lifetime pads from AZ. I have nice Bendix ones on the odyssey and they dust up the rim really fast. I don't really care about dust too much, but I am just trying to compare them. I agree with you about Bendix and them being a little bit on the expensive side.
[email protected] or anyone who uses the autozone brakes, do you ever have brake "Fade" with these pads.

Ceramic lifetime pads will have only minor dust. [Or, at least it is light in color and is not noticeable.]
Expect semi metallic pads to produce visible debris on the wheels.

I find the brake dust to be non-existant and have never experienced 'fading'. Ive logged over 70,000 miles on the AZ semi-metallic pads over a span of 6 years.
