Saw an oil special add that showed they are carrying 5 Qt jugs now. I had not seen that before other than Walmart.

Is this recent or have I just missed them?

How do they compare in price to Walmart when not on sale?

The only time I find autozone's prices beat Walmart's is when they have special deals like a jug of Mobil 1 and filter for $30 (or 5 quarts and filter for $35). Otherwise I find autozone to be more expensive as far as jugs of oil goes.

Walmart's everyday price for 5qt jugs beats AZ everyday 5+ jugs, per unit price, hands down. The only time it would come close would be on the combo promo deals where you have to buy the filter of AZ's choice

I was at my local autozone today Had to pick up some ST.30wt and some 2 stroke oil. AutoZone 30WT., and Valvoline 2 stroke.

The AutoZone brand 5.3 jugs of oil were going for $11.99. They had 5w20 to 20w50 in stock.

Why 5.3 quarts?

Most cars take 5 quarts, some 5.5..

Sounds like a good way to overfill the motor, even by a little bit, it doesn't make sense to me.

I see so many posters on BITOG claim that Wal-Mart is the only place to get a 5 qt container. In my collection I have an engine oil container from the late 20s-early 30s that was sold in a 5 qt. metal container. This was a regional oil company that was famous (somewhat) in the midwest but is long out of existance. This can was made before anybody ever dreamed about WM. WM was not the inventer of the 5 qt can.
