Skip down to --------------- below if you want to get right to it!
I have been doing some suck out from the dipstick tube and replace with fresh Dexron VI in my 2007 Chevy Tahoe with ~~71,500 miles.
This is the first new fluid since original fill. I checked the level on 178 degree transmission and it was in the correct zone closer to the low side mark but just under half way.
I took out 2.4 quarts out when transmission was 180 degrees and put back in 2.4 quarts of room temperature fluid.
Then when I checked at 180 degrees it was between the marks closer to the hot side - say 3/4 from low mark.
I then sucked out 2.2 quarts and put 2.1 quarts back in.
I am now about in the middle between high and low with transmission at 180 degrees.
I have one more to go - and I plan on doing it room temp out and in.

Owners manual says -
Check it with temperature between 160 and 200 degrees - if it is between the low and high marks on the dipstick it is good.
It seems like I may be over thinking this stuff (I do that)
But if you check it at 160 degrees and it is almost to the high mark - it would be way over that if the temp was 200 degrees. Is it built to handle that?
Or you are close to the lower mark on the dip stick with the trans at 200 degrees it would be way below the mark at 160 degrees.
If I really want the correct amount shouldn't it be about in the middle of the range when the trans temp is 180 degrees?
I do not want it over full.
