What really bothers me is how much of this SA junk is sold, and that it generally is sold for a dollar or more per quart.

The manufacturers and retailers who are moving this stuff are to my mind negligent and should be sued for not making it blazingly clear that these products are not for automobiles.

The owners manual lists the proper rated oils . How else would the car owner know when to service the ehicle? just a thought.

Well, it's sorta like having an active mine field that you hand maps out at the entrance ..except that you don't tell them its a mine field.

Of the 4 used cars I've bought, only 2 of them came with the manual.

I'd venture to guess that someone who uses SA engine oil PROBABLY isn't driving a brand-new vehicle..

As far as knowing when to service the vehicle, Jiffy-Lube and the like have done a good job of convincing the public at large that every 3000 miles is a good time to service the vehicle.

this is probably distributed to all the dealerships to let them if they have an engine failure and SA oil is used. Deny that warranty.

Lol can you say "slack-jawed yokel"

Seriously, I wonder why they had to stop the test prematurely? Loss of oil pressure? How much of that accelerated wear was due to the inferior lubricating properties of ND dino, and how much was due to what might have been good ol fashioned oil starvation due to the plugged screen?

It is interesting to note that a few months ago I picked up a bottle of SA oil at the store to look it over. I was impressed because the manufacture actually clearly stated on the back label in bold writing, "This oil is not intended for use in modern automobile engines and does not meet meet the requirements of most automobiles manufactured in the last 20 years." I can't remember the brand.
