Did a transfer case service on the wife's 2011 Tahoe with Valvoline am life atf based on the recommendation of the amsoil site to use their version of dex vi. Now I'm reading that perhaps i erred and should have used this auto track ii fluid since my 4wd selector has the auto function. Excuse the noob question but I'm finding a lot of repeated statements on Tahoe forums without much actually data such as service bulletins. Can anybody help confirm this? If so would I be fine just doing a basic drai and refill I g woth auto track

From your owners manual, 2011 Tahoe, it's Dexron VI. Dexron VI is the choice for Magna Powertrain transfer cases. Auto Trac II was used in the Auto transfer cases prior to that. Where the confusion comes in, is the service departments of some dealerships still insisted on using Auto Trac II, even though Magna Powertrain claims it's not required. Auto Trac II will not hurt your system, however, and many people still use it in Magna Powertrain transfer cases. You'll be fine with Dexron VI or equivalent.

Seems so. According to the AutoMATE online database it takes Dex VI also. Wonder whats with all the misinformation everywhere...

And if you did require AT2 fluid: PetroCan Duron ATF is suitable for use as listed on their spec sheet. I currently have several thousand KM on Co-op ATF SL (group 4, 7cSt multi use ATF) in my 2006 Tb that requires AT2. Has been working fine. Clutch engagement is as good as it ever has been. AT2 is old news.
