I am 250 miles into my first Auto-RX on my '98 Subaru Legagy L. Since it has 112k miles I'll the second course as well. I'm hoping to eek out a little more gas mileage and make up for the previous owner's lack of maintenance (tip: when the seller says "sure we have SOME maintenance records" - walk away.)
Observations: the startup knocking (common Subaru noise) is much reduced. This is often blamed on the oil pump and/or piston slap. Interesting. The oil in there now is Pennzoil Plat 5w30, which I will never get my money's worth on since I have to dump it in 1250 miles
In my defense, I wasn't planning on Auto-RX when I put it in!
After that I will use Havoline 5w30 for the remainder of the treatment and probably then just use that oil on a one-year OCI with an occasional UOA (or maybe the high mileage Havoline) for as long as I own the car - it's cheap, seems to work really well according to UOA's, and Subarus are easy on oil.
My only gripe is that the double auto-RX treatments will take about a year since I only do 6500 miles a year! My commute is 12 miles each way, 90% highway...
