I'm about to dump my second application of auto rx in my jeep. I was going to use dino oil for the rinse as per the instructions, like I always do...however, I just scored a huge pile of Havoline synthetic for $1/quart. Would it be that big of a deal to use that instead of dino oil for the rinse?

If it's a GIII then you're ok. I just talked with our resident x-pert here and he said it's actually a good choice. He has done a lot of testing and helped Frank re-write the instructions. And remember that most of the real work at least the acutal removal of the sludge happens during the rinse phase.

IIRC, using dino in all phases is preferable, but one must use dino in the rinse phase particularly. Check out Auto-Rx web site for more information.

You may be able to go to texaco's website and look at the MSDs for Havoline Syn and see if it is a group 3 or not.....if it is not then IMO, I would not use it during the ARX cleanings.

or to be sure, just run 3K on a conventional oil then resume synthetic.
For the ARX rinse phase, mid point filter change, I filled the filter with Valvoline Synpower and topped up with it, and now I see someone posted about Valvoline Synpower being a GRP III IV. I thought it was a GRP III. So WT heck?

I think Valvoline Synthetic is fine to use for the ARX rinse. I mean isn't it true that that GRP V synthetics are the polarized ones that stick? If this is the case then wont GRP III 'and' IV synthetics work well for the ARX rinse phase?

In my mind, one of the benefits of synthetic oil is it's ability to "cling" to the metal. That really doesn't seem to be what you are after during the rinse phase of Auto Rx, thus the recommendation of conventional oil.

A: We recommend simple, non-synthetic oil (do not use-semi synthetic or high-mileage oil) for this important step in the Auto-Rx® Application. The goal is to rinse all the internal parts of this liquefied debris, and a good "Dino Oil",with its simple additive package, does the job very well."

Did you know the Auto-Rx product added to your crankcase, not only works slowly and safely to dissolve contaminants, it does not disrupt the host oil chemistry,It does provide for a lower coefficient of friction, improve oil film formation, boost EP capability. Auto-Rx does a lot more than clean.

Absoulutely.Synpower is Group 3
On post above You have to be one of 10 people who know Auto-Rx does all that. Did you know Auto-Rx will keep oil additive package at spec longer than the oil alone could ?

Yes, it has to, because ARX emulsifies (encapsulates/isolates) blow-by combustion byproduct contaminants, so the ad packs aren't depleted by having to deal with them.
