Auto-Rx # of applications needed

Well, I'm considering some Auto-Rx in a 94 Buick Regal with the 3.8L V6. The engine currently has 120K mi on it. No severe leaks (possible minor weeping around rear of oil pan gasket), and it uses or loses less than 1/4 of a quart in between its 3 month or 4000mi oil changes (whichever comes first).

Vehicle was purchased 2.5 years ago with 89K mi. Immediately after purchase the intake manifold gasket let loose but was replaced under the dealerships 3mo/3k mi powertrain warranty. So coolant contamination is not an issue with this vehicle.

It has been fed a stead diet of Mobil 1 10w30 for most of the time we've owned it, and recently Havoline syn 10w30.

My question is would one dose of Auto-Rx be enough to clean up this engine (it does not appear to be excessively dirty from the view through the filler cap) or would I need to go with a follow up cleaning application?

If I run Auto-Rx it will be this summer with 10w30 Havoline Dino and an ACDelco filter. After the Rx process I will go back to using Havoline syn in it.

I think that the Auto-Rx site lists two applications as recomended for anything over 100,000 miles? I would check the Auto-RX site! If you want the best results follow the recomened directions! You really have no way of knowing how dirty the engine is? Your are assumeing that it is fine.

While I recomend following the directions on the web site ,I think you would be fine with one treatment at your milage. I am fairly sure cars that use synthetic oil have less buildup of carbon etc. I think the return on investement of a second treatment would be nil. An excellent product and one I plan to use on a regular basis.

You defintely need two applications of Auto-Rxwith mileage on this engine. One bottle of Auto-Rx will produce at 100 % efficency up to cleaning a 100,000 miles engine. You can't allow oil and filter to exceed application instructions and try to squeeze benefits for what is clearly a two bottle application from 1 bottle. It will become apparent after you use second bottle and go to second rinse mode why two bottles. Don't short change your benefits. Follow Auto-Rx Application Instructions

If you have over 100k and do the two applications, then after that would doing one application every so often be enough?

Answered this in another of your posts, Auto-Rx will liquify any crud, and let the oil flow freely.

I have used it in 2 new Mazda's and a Ford PSD. Of course I did not have any crud to clean out, just the normal manufacturing crap. No mfg. recommends the addition of any thing in their oil, period. Do a search on the board, interesting reading.

To answer your question JohnnyO. yes a application every so often should do it. It took my toyota 150,000 before the build up started to keep the rings from working. I would think an application every 50-70 thousand miles would keep the engine clean as a whisle.

ted s, If you have any crud in your engine your lack of maintence has already voided your warranty!!! No manufacture warrantys a vechile with sludge in it!! THe possable exception would be if a wide spread problem with the engines design leads to large scale sludge issues in an engine for a time period!

So again if you have any sludge in your engine you have already voided your warranty by not maintaining it! Their is not a single person on this site that has had an oil damaged in any way from auto-rx. We have seen some preety bad sludge monsters and junk yard queens!

If it can fix forlkift engines it can fix anything IMO. Remeber ted s it is NOT a flush.
