Auto-Rx Cleaning Instructions

I am about 300 miles into the clean on my 95 PSD with Auto-Rx. This is with the existing oil which is 15W40 Schaeffer's Semi-Syn. So I went to the Auto-Rx web site and the cleaning instructions are now very explicit for my situation and were revised 9/9/03. The cleaning will work with any oil that is in the engine. Then the instructions further discuss the rinse and completion phase and vehicles under 100k and also for those over 100K miles. Why has the mileage to leave it in changed from 500 miles to 1500 miles? I would be fairly disappointed to find out that after 500 miles, the cleaning wasn't 100% complete and I could have gotten even better results. (dont, get me wrong, in ALL of the vehicles I have used it in, the results have been pleasing)

I like the fact that the tag line "the pollution solution" has been dropped from the product label. That added a lot of confusion as to what the product was really meant to do and be used for.

Just thought I would chime in as another slightly frustrated customer.

While I recognize the product is relatively new and may still need some "refinement", the constant changing in directions has left me confused as to what one is really supposed to do and what works.

Sure the current directions are simple, but don't match the directions sent with the product or the directions on the product label.

Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the consumer!

I did my first clean after an oil analysis using Amsoil 15W40 Full Synthetic. I ran the Auto-Rx with that oil for 500 miles and then drained the oil and Auto-Rx. I then ran conventional oil and had it analized at 3k. The results were super. So a before and after analysis confirmed that it works with as little as 500 miles even with synthetic. BUT, some vehicles do not get the religous oil changing that mine did. So intervals have been standardized for under/over 100K miles and make the premis that the engine the Auto-Rx is being used in is the best scenario to clean the worst case. If your engine only needs 500 miles, but is used according to the directions on the web site, the Auto-Rx does not harm the oil, in fact as has been stated, it does enhance it to some degree.
The reason I am doing another clean, I have 25K on my engine since my last clean and I am changing to Amsoil 5W30 HDD Full Synthetic oil after the clean is complete. This truck gives me fits starting in the winter unless it is plugged in. I did change to the 15W40 Schaeffer's semi-syn and this cured my starting problem. Using the Amsoil 15W40 Full Synthetic was great also. The only oil that gives me trouble is the straight conventional. With a 15 quart sump and 5 quart Gulf Coast 01 bypass filter, I don't expect to analize or change the filter for a full 10K, and every 10K from then on.

I am truly sorry for your confusion Auto-Rx is designed to clean all metal oil lubricated rotating parts primairly. Application on label is absoulutely correct for engine using conventional oil.
Dyson Oil Analysis and Auto-Rx are posting new types of ratio's developed through ongoing testing, including the true synthetics and synthetic blends. We feel the new application instructions posted 9-9-03 represent a simplified application format for any type oil. Certainly if you use conventional follow application instructions on label of bottle, if not impliment new application instructions.
