1/2 the blame goes to the shop.
Don't forget that the other 1/2 of the blame goes to the consumer.
Maybe we should retitle the thread, "vehicle owners are stoopid and can't say no".
Shops are in the business to make money. When you go there, they WILL make money on you. It is up to YOU to decide how much profit you're willing to give them.
Learning to service you own car can save you a ton of money.
Keeping accurate records on maintenance schedules will prevent shops from recommending unneeded service.
Critic, why even mention me in a thread? BTW, you can't over maintain anything mechanical. But, typical consumers undermaintain their vehicles. Can you blame a jippylube for 'free market'? I blame the owner!
I have a problem with owners that do NOT watch their vehicles getting service. All those fancy charges and services are meaningless if they were NOT done. If they were done, then your vehicle should last longer.
Don't forget that your doctor, dentist, lawyer, accountant.... are also crooks. But, when someone with a 'title' charges you excessively for something not needed, who complains?
