So I went out and much to my chagrin the factory battery in the Virago 250 took a [censored]. The maintenance charger was charging but the battery wont take it. Its 5 years old so I saw it coming. Now...here is the skinny. I have an O Reilly, a Napa, and a Advance Auto in the area and all stock the 10L-A2 size I need. Any idea on which store brand would be the best buy? There are all within 4 bucks of eachother. If I recall Advance car batteries are Johnson Controls, and NAPA and O Reilly are East Penn. Not sure about their bike units though.

powersports batteries at those locations are not JC or EP. I've used batts from walmart and advance and would do it again - although I found a new favorite supplier. good prices, fast ship.. the last 3 I purchased at batterymart. ( I have 3 atv's and a motorcycle ) Their "big crank" line is East Penn and made in the US.

Another +1 for battery mart.

My Honda takes an odd size that neither Walmart nor most car places stock so i ordered online. Not only did I get a quality item, the price was around $60 shipped. The factory Yuasa is a $150+ battery for my app.

What has the best warranty?

Usually what I buy based on, but there's some secret batteries kicking around with a cheap generic label and are built like tanks.

If you have no beef with them, Arnolds may have one of the best. An AGM unit made by East Penn.

A couple local Arnolds and I have had some issues, mostly with their machine shop work quality and costs.

Plus my battery is only made as a conventional I from what I have seen. No AGM for it.

I just did this a few weeks ago. I saved around $30 if memory serves.

Yeah around here the stores have them for 49 bucks roughly on the shelf. Probably just going to go get the NAPA one.

I will never EVER buy an Advance Auto battery again. I bought one from them for my F-150. Went out next morning and it was dead, boosted it took it to them they checked it and said it was good, something must be draining it. I took it over to firestone they checked it and said it had a bad plate , it was a bad battery.

To make it short, after 3 trips to Advance and threatening to call corporate they gave me a new one, It is working OK, For now

I have installed 6 duralast gold tops in family and friends vehicles, some are more than 6 years old now. Not one failure. My Camry has one thats 3 years old. Cranks really fast in cold weather. Faster than the factory one it replaced.

Well my autolite silver lasted 6 years. And they are made by Johnson controls, one of the three big makers left in the U.S. If you want to see a lot of people unhappy with batteries, its seems Exide products have the most complaints.

OK... so you bought a bad battery from a store that has bad customer service. And that makes the entire line of batteries a problem?

Back to the topic at hand. I bought a battery for a jetski at Advance Auto Parts, and was pleasantly surprised to unpackage it and find a Yuasa battery inside.
