Off of a friends 2011 Hyundai Sonata 4 cylinder car. Had i think Valvoline Maxlife blend and this. Put a tough guard 9688 and some more Maxlife 10w30 in.

Nice work Adam! Not that I’d use that brand, but at least it looks like there’s no concerns for those who do. Nitrile ADBV is expected for low cost. As soon as I get my shipment from Hootbro, I’ve got some virgin filters (along with a MicroGreen and Amsoil) headed your way that won’t make a mess!

Your friends and family are lucky to have somebody as dedicated as you- every weekend you’re puttin in work on their cars!

You know I bet IDUSA makes that filter.. same manufacturer as Premium Guard. This is the "lower" tier version of course.

car51, great C&P.
But, I see a tear, I think.....????
In # 5 pic, the pleat next to the metal crimp, left side, it looks like a sliver of a tear running up and down of the pleat, about an 1/8" sliver.

The circled area.

car51, I don't doubt your word, but my picture download is Windows Media and it has a slide bar to increase the zoom. I increased the zoom to about 175% and still see the little sliver. I see the orange glue gob, and I also see the pleat next to it with a sliver in it. I'm sorry, but I'm just posting what I "THINK" I see.
Does anyone else see what I'm seeing?

car51, I must be going COO-KOO! I have been around the torn pleat syndrome for so long now I'm starting to see a tear where there is none. I apologize.

When we look at pics 7 and 8, that's a whole-lot of pleats. There's more pleats in pics 7 or 8, showing only one-half of that filter, than some brand name brands have for their entire filter cirumference.

Cheap paper media, made to look like a ten dollar wrap-job there.

In the third picture from the bottom the glue over the center tube hole seems to have survived. But wait, what is that sliver like pointed thing in there? Wayward glue still bonded?
