Switched from Progressive to State Farm after being with them since 2009. My payment for insurance went from $73 per month to 23.25 .
cheap.webp

It pays to shop. I stayed with the same insurance company for about 15 years and never shopped. When I did I cut my rate by about 40% and that was with a reputable major.

People who generally are loyal to their insurance company are taken advantage of by their insurance company. The insurance business has an "index" assigned to each policy holder indicating their past changes with insurance companies. That's taken in consideration with their premiums.
I never seen a monthly bill from State farm before. It's been either three or six months to choose from for me.

I have been with one insurance company for over 27 years.
However, I shop every two years and have never found a company that could beat mine by a substantial enough margin to warrant a change.
The two times that I have found a company that would beat mine on auto/home: 1) It was $50/year or less, 2) It was with a company that has a reputation for substantial rate jumps upon renewal, and with a third would save me $75/year on home but when you factored in the auto (which was compulsory to get the savings on the home) resulted in a rate increase into the hundreds.
Sometimes the best companies are not the ones with Flo's, Gekko's or a large media presence.
Also, a good independent agent representing a wide array of companies is invaluable.

I chose monthly because of the current problems related to my job. When everything goes back to normal and i start getting more hours at work i will set it up for payment every three months.

I check rates once a year.
My monthly payment with E Insurance was around $180 a month.
I switched to Geico and now it's $128 for the same coverage.
I'm a USAA member and they wanted $220.

USAA really shafts people based on what all the veterans I know have to say.

Im not sure why people are loyal to an insurance company. Its insurance, one of the most regulated industries in the USA.
Seems silly, its like being loyal to a gas station to put fuel in your car at a higher price.

Price wins all the time and every year on our 2 cars, boat, motorcycle, home. Rate goes up? Get online and do some hunting, again, low price always wins. Its so freaking easy to switch, instead of the forums, spend a couple hours once or twice a year making big money by going online and getting insurance prices for everything you insure. Find a better price? Switch, doesnt matter if your in the middle of your current policy, end of the policy or if you just paid the policy last week, they will send a refund of unused policy days once you cancel. So sign up with the new company right away, then call the old company and cancel, done, check to you will be in the mail.

Easy stuff, easy, easy, easy. Been 15 years since we moved south and in this home, must have changed Home Ins companies 6 times, now I have a company that never seems to raise my rate or better said, no one comes close.
Same goes for all the other toys in our lives. Its soooo easy.

I have found one company www.esurance.com unbeatable for auto ins for the last 2 possibly 3 years now, in this area.

Its impossible to compare rates with people, credit score, area you live, past history, all determines rates and why I say, start hunting on the internet, if you dont do this every year, you are paying too much. choose at least 3 other companies to compare rates, five would be better.

I my case there are two main groups of companies based on the premium. There is no substantial price difference among the group with lower premium. The second group has 50-80% higher premium. The relative distribution changes if my situation change substantially - adding teenage driver for example. That means company specialize according to the type of drivers. Similar is true for the location to a smaller degree.

I've been pretty loyal to State Farm over the years. While they have been slightly more expensive over the years they've been pretty much in line with the others doing some shopping around. The thing with SF is claims are a little easier to deal with. I've had a couple over the years and have had no issue. The latest one was last June's freak hailstorm that got my other Tacoma. One phone call and my truck was in the shop no questions asked. Couple weeks later and OEM parts used on a 2009 truck, all was good. Same thing with my grandmothers Jeep that got hit by the same storm. It got an OEM Mopar hood, no questions. Growing up with both parents in the bodyshop field, I've heard plenty of insurance shenanigans stories of the "save money" insurance companies...

Same here. I might be able to save some money by switching, but the times I've needed to use them, they've been there and it's pretty much been no questions asked.

You only get shafted if you allow it. I had checked insurance prices with USAA and they were higher than anyone I shopped with. No thanks.

we're are paying $130 a month for two full coverages; however, it is a bundle policy along with house insurance

so yes there are so many variables involved, you just cannot compare insurances and their policies, not that easy thing to do
