Hey guys, ive never had an auto-dimming mirror in my car before. My job requires me to drive more at night nowadays. I drive a small car, so everyone in their SUV has their lights way high in my rearview. Was wondering if these auto-dimming mirrors are any good? Thanks

Don't forget about adjusting the side-view mirrors to your blind spots instead of duplicating what the rear-view sees. That will help with the headlights of following vehicles.

I've got one on our new 2011 vehicle and I like it. The rear windows are VERY tinted though so I don't know how it would work (better or worst) of they were not.

Im thinking about adding it to my current nissan versa. No tint on the windows. Cost isnt bad, $100 out the door, I install it myself.

The auto-dimming mirror works great on my RX300. Yes, I know it's an SUV, but still you can see the mirror has actually gotten darker at night and reacted to all of the headlights. I think it's definitely worth it!

We have one on the Caddy and I really like it a lot. The rear window is tinted also. I have no idea how an aftermarket unit with an untinted rear window would work.

i love the auto dimming mirror in my sister's tsx. wish my integra had it. My car is small and also very low on the floor, so it seems like people are high beaming me.

if your eyes are very sensitive to light, then even more of a reason to get it.

My wife's Olds Intrigue and my Acura 3.2TL both have auto dimming mirrors so we're used to them. I was surprised to find my Pontiac G8 GT came with a manual dimming mirror so I replaced it with a factory auto dim version - PnP, it took me all of 5 minutes. It works beautifully and maintains all the original functionality (OnStar, compass, passenger airbag indicator).

mine works ok unless I'm towing then its horrid.
honestly I like manual better myself but my eyes are very sensitive. maybe if it had an override button to make it darker.

I do like the garage door opener built into mine.

I can't remember the last car I had without an auto-dimming (a.k.a. electrochromatic) rear-view mirror. These days I wouldn't go without one. And on top of that, I'm a HUGE fan of the ones with HomeLink built into them. Both of our vehicles have them.

The first vehicle I've ever owned with one is my new 2012 Subaru Legacy. I absolutely LOVE the auto dimming rear-view mirror. It's something I'd like to have from now on. It's really nice when you're lower to the ground in a smaller car like the Legacy.

Especially nice when a stupid blinding HID headlamp equipped vehicle is behind you, or something with piercing or misaligned projector lamps.

Auto dimming rearview mirror is the one thing my focus had that I miss. They really are absolutely fantastic. The equinox hsd it, and my dad commented on it on the way back from ohio, saying he wishes his cruze had it. IMO the manual switch makes it too dark.
