what REALY turns me off is a salesman bragging about himself. one said this (kid about 22) yea my dad has been a car salesman for 20 years, but i am goeing to out sale him in 10 years. by!

In this day of information, if you get "scammed" it's your fault. Anyone can go on the net and see every dealers inventory and the specs on the car your looking at. There are hundreds of sites that a person can use to do research on the vehicles they might be interested in. Get your own financing, and the dealer has no chance to back load your deal. Show up prepared, and the dealer will treat you with respect. If they don't walk away, and find one that does.
My neighbor had a Chrysler Pacifica. When the lease was up, she went to the dealer and asked to see a vehicle that "excited" her. two hours later, she was home in a brand new Jeep Commander. If I could get three people a week like her, I'd be selling cars right now. People like her are easy prey, and I don't blame the dealer at all for taking advantage of her ignorance.

You forget that there are also those dealers that give you the deal out the door and get you later.

-They have your trade, and you there car, oh noes the paperwork was rejected come back down, we need to re-negotiate.

-You sign a finance, but under the finance paper there is a lease paper. 3 years down the road they repo your car legally unless you cough up defense fees with an attorney.(Planet Honda in NJ was a biiiiiggggg user of this practice).

-There was a dealership in South Jersey that used to "pay for flying/bus trips" to the dealer so you can get the car you want. Well these people would come down, and if they didn't want the car they would leave you stranded at the dealership with no return flight/bus.

-Also another dealership would throw your trade-in's keys on their roof and say they lost them, only to people who came from far away or out of state supposedly. Forced them into a car purchase.

Again, why would any sane person ever let the dealer handle the financing? Secure your own at a bank of credit union.

I cant see how it is even an issue. You should retain a copy of the form you signed. If each copy is different then there is a documents mismatch. At some point in time the company ding that would be wide open to a class action lawsuit, Id think... of course then they would just file bankruptcy.

I find it humorous that everyone longs for car sales to be set price like everything else...

The reality is that EVERYTHING is negotiable, and the only places that are ripping you off are the "set price" places. Anyplace else and you may have gotten a bad deal. Go to a set price place and you know you got a bad deal because they programmed profit into it that you could have done better on.

Im all for folks making a living, but you have to know the territory before going in.
