Audi A4 V6 oil filter

I use the OEM filter (believe it is Mann) on my 2001 Audi A4 2.8L V6 with a little over 58,000 miles on it. I am getting the supplies for my oil change which is due at 60,000 miles and the dealer wants a bit over $18 for the filter. That just seems excessive for an oil filter.

Having said that, I do run the filter 10,000 miles, so I do want a good filter and in the end, I will purchase an OEM if that is the answer, but was curious what others are doing:

A) Get it from the VW dealer for bit less $$$? Guess I could get the part number from Audi and call VW.

B) Can the Wix equivalent make it 10,000 miles?

C) Anyone know of good place to order Audi OEM parts online?

$9.50 for the MANN W930/21 from fcpgroton.com. Ask for it; I didn't see them on the web site. I think this is the OEM filter without the VW/Audi label.

The OEM filter may be smaller (shorter), depending on the part number. The Mann filter is excellent. The extra volume is welcome even in the 2.8 l engine with its decent size sump. The OEM filter is about $14 at the dealer. You can possibly save a bundle by ordering more than one filter at a time. Some places will not charge for shipping if you order for more than a certain amount. I admit I'm lazy and simply buy my filter at the dealer. That's the ony time the dealer sees me anymore, and I rub it in each time!

Thanks, I called the dealer again and this time they said $14.17 plus tax, which is the same price as the VW dealer.

Much as I respect Wix, put a Mann or Mahle on that Audi puppy.

There are discount vendors all over the Internet.

Sometimes quality costs money.
