Was wondering if anybody here has tried the super f made by ATI? I guess its a full synthetic type f transmission fluid.
I am considering running this in my A-518 chrysler transmission. It's a non lock up A-518 in a 91 half ton short bed four wheel drive dodge ram truck.
I will be getting a transgo stage 2 shift kit put in it as well and the super f looks like it'd be a great fluid to run for firmer shifts. What do you guys think? Anybody here running it? if so how does it do?

Type F fluids are for the old borg warner transmissions. Yes, you will feel firmer shifts. Yes, you will rebuild your transmission in half (or less) the miles.

You have to realize that Type F has little to no friction modifiers and it is for use in older Ford transmissions and for racing use in GM PowerGlides and TH400's.

Yes you will get hard shifts and if your transmission has NOT been modfied for racing use, as Widman said, expect lower reliability and more rebuilds.

I was just going off the type f in the torque flight transmissions from several articles i have read in the mopar magazines. And i have talked to alot of people who run type f in the 727's and non lock up A-500's and A-518's.
I figured the super f would help my transmission hold up even longer since its a synthetic.
Why would type f or super f require a re-build sooner? Why would my non lock up A-518 need any friction modifyers? And if type f and super f is not a msart fluod to use in a non lock up A-518 what fluid is? I want to use a fluid that will allow my transmission to stay as cool as possible and last as long as possible.

Each trnsmission has different types of materials and require different friction characteristics. Type F tears up material while it makes those hard shifts. Just like popping the clutch in a manual transmission instead of letting it up slowly.
