The G35 auto transmission holds 12 quarts total. To do a simple drain and fill you will only put maybe 4 quarts of new fluid in. Should I just stick with J matic fluid from the dealer or put in 4 quarts of Amsoil ATF?

Depends on the cost of the jmatic fluid. If it is say $4 per qt, I would go with it. But if it is say 5-10 per qt, you will have better spent your money on the Amsoil. You will end up with a better quality fluid mix in your trans.

Go with the Amsoil. Drain and fill at a regular interval such as every 15K or 30K depending on your driving style and budget. This keeps the fluid fresh, avoids any potential problems associated with a flush and is cheap to do since you're only replacing 4 quarts at a time. If you wish to get more Amsoil in the unit quickly buy a case of ATF and do 3 drain and fills in quick succession.

IMO, a full flush is needed every 30k. Since 4-5 drain/refills is equal to a flush, you should consider a drain/refill every ~7.5k-10k miles, regardless of ATF brand used.

The best would be to do a flush with the Amsoil to get the full Amsoil benefit.IMO .You forgot to mention the mileage. if the fluid is in need of replacing then why dilute the "dirt" with fresh oil .
