I did some searching before making this post, so forgive me if I've missed this in a previous post.

I am the parts manager of an independent Japanese repair facility and have found that Denso (Japan,) FULL (Thailand,) Nippon (Malaysia,) Nippon Micro (Japan,) and Union Sangyo (Malaysia) to be filters of excellent quality. Very strong and thick metal construction, filter media as good, if not better than most, and heavy metal springs.

After repeated searching via Google, iATN, yahoo, and automotive web sites I've noticed that there is little information on these filters. A little info on Denso, but not the rest.

Anyone know of any good information on these filters?

I'll post pictures of the ones that I've cut open later.

Thanks,

J D Kinchen

FULL, Denso (OE for many Japanese cars, off of Nippon Denso), Union Sangyo, etc. are, IMHO good, reliable air filter products.

I personally favours Denso air filters, Tokyo Roki oi filters. I can live with Sangyo w/o fear.

Do you have a Denso cut open?

No, but I've seen several posts pointing to the official Denso site and they do have a cut away available. I only opened up mine because I haven't seen a cutaway on them.

Here's the Denso site

When I post mine, they won't be pretty. I asked the owner to open up some for me, thinking that he would use a saw. Instead, he got out his air hammer and some sort of peeler and peeled the oil filters open. So the pics will show a small amount of damage. I also just went ahead and threw away the cans. They were of substantial thickness. I kept the base plates. I was amazed at how thick and heavy they are. Hopefully I'll get the pics up soon.

Wow, the filter element has no endcaps whatsoever?

And according to the website, the anti-drainback valve is made of Silicon? How do they make an ADBV out of an amorphous brown semi-metallic powder?

I don't stock any of their filters. Like most places and persons, I am looking for the most bang for the buck. I'm not trying to give my customers custom oil filters that cost 10-15 bucks. I'm trying to give them an excellent quality filter at a good price.

From what I understand, the Toyo Roku is an excellent filter, but it's pricing makes it at least double the price of the ones that I currently stock.

You are right about them being $10. That is what I paid (once) at the Honda Motorcycle dealer for it. All of Honda filters are pretty much interchangeable. The "Fat" filters still have the same gasket diameter as the new "Skinny" filters.

The books at the store list different part numbers for the 88 Prelude, 2005 CR-V, and 83 Magna, but in reality they are all interchangeable.
