Just did the service on my Ram 3500. Manual specs severe duty for this trans regardless of use. Every 48,000km they want a drain/fill. I was a bit late but got it done today with 56,000km on the clock. As expected, the factory fill was still bright red and smelled like factory fresh ATF should. The pan has a drain plug so it was really easy.

I put in 7.5 liters but it was a bit over filled so I took out half a liter and it seems close now. I will check again cold and hot.

Now instead of the Mobil 3309 or the rebadged Mopar ASRC 17$ a liter fluid, I used PetroCan Duradrive. They give the thumb up for suitable for use with ASRC, T4, 3309. I will report back with the results down the road.

Nice! It's always comforting to see decent looking fluid drain out from the get-go. How hot does the fluid temp get on your 3500? I know with the ZF8 in my 1500, on a 90degF day, I've seen the ATF get to ~218F per the dash readout.

I don't think I have seen the temp go past mid 80's C or 185 F and that's with GCW of 30,000lb towing in the summer heat. They say the engine oil temp readout is algorithm based but the trans is actual real time readout. I don't really pay much attention to it anymore, I just keep the trans in a gear that keeps the engine 2000 rpm or more and it does the rest.
