100% here. I used to take the caps out of my cap gun, roll a few of them up together, set them on the sidewalk and smack them with a hammer. It made a lot louder noise than a cap gun. I well remember the gunpowder smell too. We did not have a console tv but my aunt and uncle did, I remember watching it when we had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. We had a color TV but it was old, stood on 4 legs and the channel changer knob was broken off so we kept a pair of pliers on top of the tv to change the channel. The first schools I went to had the old style wooden desks with a seat attached. I never saw a plastic desk like in the article until I got to the 7th grade. Corning Ware, Chili Mac, push up pops, the Hawaiian Punch guy, frozen orange juice, I remember all of that. We did not have shag carpet but my aunt and uncle did. They used to vacuum it and then use a tool that looked like a rake to make it stand up. The only phone we had had a rotary dial and sat on a little table in the main hall of our house. My aunt and uncle had the wall mounted phone in their kitchen. I remember it was a big thing back then to have one with the long cord to reach all the way across to the stove and sink. Some time late in the 70s they got a push button phone in their den. That was a big deal too.
