I've noticed that as well, might have been the first Mazda 3 that really upped the game for interiors. My friend has a 2010 which is a second gen but the interior was super nice when he got it, now most interiors have caught up.
GM/Ford/Mopar used to be the worst. Mopar specifically, their interiors were really plasticy pre-bailout.
For me, it's generic oil. No way am I rocking store brand when I can get Edge or M1 for the same price on sale.
