Are you also cursed with the same problem with every car you own?

I was talking about this with a friend a few days ago. Every car i've owned within the last two or three years had significant vibration issues. After replacing EVERYTHING on the last Mercedes it was still horrible, nobody could figure it out and i ended up selling it dirt cheap. About a year ago i've decided to buy a very nice low mileage E class and now, story repeats itself once again. Rebuilt front suspension, different sets of rims, different sets of tires, countless trips to various shops to get the wheels balanced. Sometimes it's worse, sometimes it's better but if it's driveable it will quickly get worse.

Now my wife's car has the same issue and nobody seems to be able to fix it. For the past few years, i haven't owned a car that would be smooth (or even driveable) above 100kmh. My E class was the opposite for a while, i had to drive well above speed limits and would be smooth as glass. I will fire the parts canon once again and replace the last things i haven't replaced such as bearings, a new set of tires of a different brand but i'm contemplating completely giving up with owning cars i enjoy. I used to love driving, it was like an addiction but now i only drive my cars if i'm forced to.

What is your curse?

My curse will be that i often get such a feeling for a new car just after about 6 months driving.
The Silverado 1500 2016 I have now Im still dont want to change I just love the truck,.
About your vibration issue when you have a trip with the bad vibrations just stop and feel on every brakedisc if some of them got hot.

No curses, maybe you are attracting it? 😁 Maybe it's time to go away from Mercedes?

Most vibration issues I've encountered have been related to tires, with the exception of a 2019 Ram that always had an odd vibration at highway speeds. My Titan did as well but was related to the tires that it came with, as well as needing hub rings for the aftermarket wheels.

Check motor mounts.

And stop buying Mercedes.
I have the same issue with my wife's Peugeot and my other car which is a Renault. I drove a friend's Hyundai for a few days and he is complaining about a vibration issue in the steering wheel now. He doesn't car about his car and is not in tune with it as we all are on this forum.

No strange vibrations on the last 2 cars I've owned, but my '00 VW GTI was cursed with the vibration ghost. I never could find it, nor could my VW shop. Everything checked out when it was inspected. Maybe they just weren't thorough enough??

Learn to tolerate vibrations, I guess, cause all cars vibrate to some extent.
People are actually commenting on the vibrations and shaking before me saying anything. My wife doesn't care about cars at all and is not receptive to such issues but keeps asking my what the hell is going on with her car.

My current and prior car has a rather small amount of wind noise from the driver side outside mirror. Probably the same for cars I had prior to those two, but I never noticed it.

Two Mercedes. No vibrations.

Six Volvos. No vibrations.

One Toyota. No vibrations.

I check and replace worn parts as needed. Driveshaft bearings/rag joints (MB RWD). Engine mounts. Transmission mounts. Suspension components.

You have a RWD MB. Check the trans mount first. Then the driveshaft joints and bearing. Then the engine mounts.

The first car had a vibration coming from underneath the car or rear, everything was replaced including motor mounts, i even replaced them two times. The new to me car has a vibration the steering wheel. The whole front end is new. At this point i am not looking for answers and ideas, everything possible was done. Only the bearings are original.

I cannot relate to that at all. I don't think I've ever owned a car with a vibration issue, except for the occasional out of balance tire.

My '14 MB E350 is a super smooth ride, even with 115k miles on it, making it a joy to drive on a road trip. My wife's '22 BMW X5 also has an incredibly smooth ride, so much that I often find myself pushing triple digit speeds, without any sensory feedback to help me know how fast I'm going.

The '13 Outback that I recently sold to my son's girlfriend was also a vibration free ride, all the way to the time I sold it, with 165k miles on the odometer.

So no, I do not believe at all that vibration is something we just have to live with. Do all cars vibrate. Absolutely. But is it of a frequency and amplitude that we are sensitive to? For most cars, it is tuned out to where we don't notice it

Motor mounts on the XC90 have been a failing point = vibration. F-350 had a warped rotor while braking = vibration
I buy old vehicles so they all have a bit of a wiggle. 😅
